They do not provide 3G mobile connectivity so this immediately undervalues them as a service provider to the businessmen. They appear marginally cheaper than most, but not to the extent that it makes more than ZAR 50 per month to the average phone bill.

MTN is independent and provides good service all round. They are situated on the corner of Rivonia & Summit Roads, diagonally opposite The Waldorf Suites Sandton. They'll set up your laptop for 3G within minutes and do it with a smile. I like MTN, they're a good bunch.

Vodacom - Mobile Phone Call Rates.
Telkom owns 50% of Vodacom and so Vodacom is merely and extension of the Telkom monopoly. For this reason alone we don't support them. Consumers are being ripped off in South Africa because of archaic licensing restrictions imposed by the Apartheid government, which appear to be embraced by the new order. Vodacom is particularly strong in mobile technologies used in agriculture, vending machines & the like, so if you are looking for these applications, you have few choices.
