Bishops
College
Bishops Robert Gray arrived in 1848 as Cape Towns
first Anglican Archbishop, giving it its status as a city.
The following year he founded a new school at Protea, calling
it the Collegiate School of the Diocese of Cape Town. Today
we call it Bishops.
The first Principal was the
Reverend HM White, who came from Britain. He modeled Bishops
on Radley which had been established a few years earlier.
