To whom it may concern,
This
letter serves to confirm that The Waldorf donated over 500
hours of consulting time and certain start up capital for
the establishment and running of Lions Skills for Life Inc.
Their representative, Nick Carter served as director of
Lions Skills for Life for the period September 1999 to July
2004 in which time they:
- Wrote the first business plan for
the concern.
- As a Founding Member of Lions Skills
for Life caused its incorporation under Section 21a of
the Company's Act (incorporated not for gain) during February
2001.
- Wrote the company operations manual.
- Wrote the first budget.
- Provided bridging finance initially
and periodically thereafter.
- Caused the writing of a training
course to prevent HIV and to alter society's attitudes
toward persons that have it. It is taught in schools,
corporations, the South African Police Service and is
endorsed by the Department of Education.
Through education and training Life Skills
sets out to:
-
Promote mutual respect
among people of all cultures.

Teach the value of
family, peers and work-related relationships.
-
Avoid destructive behaviour
that can harm the individual and society.
-
And latterly, to curb
the impact of the HIV pandemic.
The Memorandum & Articles of Association
of Life Skills requires its directors to serve no longer than
three yeas and, Nick resigned when his term of service was
over during July 2004. He continues to render service to the
directors of the day in an advisory capacity.
Since incorporation four years
ago, Lions Skills for Life has trained over 2,500 teachers
and through classroom training reached over between 50 and
100 students per teacher per year (125,000 to 250,000 per
year). It is taught in schools in the pooerer comunities and
the SA Police Service .
