This wonderful and
worthwhile project was started by Great African Experiences
director, Nick Carter in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. It is
fundded by Great African Experiences and The Waldorf Suites
Sandon. Regrettably we had to abandon the MAKE IT HAPPEN
projects until the social and political unrest subsides.
The essential elements of MAKE IT HAPPEN
are:
Project 1 - For instance,
the first project's beneficiaries were the Aids Orphans
of Victoria Falls. We built a mushroom farm consisting of
a single room on the side of a church and were in the process
of employing someone to teach them how to grow mushrooms
to sell to local hotels. By creating a business that sustained
itself, we hoped to provided food, shelter, clothing, books
& school fees through this self-help program.

Project
2 - was to form a Christian Travel company to sell praise
& worship safaris to Victoria Falls. The company tithe
would have been used to start a larger farming project providing
funding for a vegetable farm and do likewise for other projects
when they had completed the first. The kids would have sold
safaris packages by visiting Churches internationally and
recruiting their groups of "Christian Tourists"
to accompany them back to Africa. By so doing they were
developing a worthwhile career in travel & tourism and
helping other people.
Project 3 - Is still happening.
It involved the start up of home industry to produce African
artifacts for sale internationally, thereby creating jobs
and generating income through tithing. This project still
continues informally as the persons that received the training
are still busy making artificacts.
MAKE IT HAPPEN still exists
in the minds of those who started it and we shall revive
it again. Watch this space.
