Back
o' the Moon
The voluptuous atmosphere, a fusion of the romantic past
with an exciting present, potent and rich as a feisty cocktail,
is full of nostalgia and déjà vu. It takes one
back to the original, incomparable Back O the Moon,
a famous Sophiatown shebeen in the turbulent Fifties where
everyone, rich, poor and in-between, met to feast on great
jazz and great food to rub shoulders with great musicians:
Miriam Makeba, Dolly Rathebe, Thandi Klaarsen, Dorothy Masuka,
The Manhattan Brothers, The Woody Wood Peckers, to mention
a few of all the legends.

Sheikh's
Palace 2.3Km from The Waldorf
We recommend The Sheikh's palace for Middle Eastern
food and entertainment. The owners are fastidious about their
food, presentation & entertainment. One experiences that
old fashioned ME courtesy. High recommended. Find out their
entertainment program before you go. The belly dancers are
great. "Budget on about ZAR 230 per person including
moderately priced wines, starters, main meal & dessert.
