Good mid-week entertainment. Live bands, loud music and good food. Bar service could be better when the place is packed, but the vibe is electric and the music will woo you. Blues room is an opening venue for many a new band trying to break into the music scene and most established musicians; serious baby boomer music lovers adore it. I like it a lot mid week when it's not so busy. It feels more like a dinner club and service is better. Busy or not , I like the Blues Room. It's like a different evening every occasion.

Butcher Shop 2.5Km from The Waldorf
The Butcher shop serves the finest steaks ever. Order your cut of meat and watch them as they carve it from the carcass. The writers prefers a rare steak measuring 50mm thick and weighing 700g. You get exactly what you order. It's cooked to perfection. Presentation is perfect and the ambience is great. This establishment will draw every penny you have from your pocket, but its worth it. Budget on about ZAR 275 per person including modertately priced wines, main meal & dessert.

Lucas Restaurant 50m from The Waldorf
Typically Italian restaurant, run by Italian partner's Luca and Alberto. Their home made food is amazing. Luca's is good for a casual lunch on the patio or a romantic dinner. It's opposite The Waldorf.

An excellent new menu. Typical café society a blend of young socialites and older business people hoping to get lucky (some do & some don't). People go there to party midweek & until late (02h00) over weekends. Restaurant owners Takki & Chris are great hosts. Ask for them by name and mention the Waldorf. They'll go the extra mile for you. It's always packed, so book ahead!"

We recommend The Sheikh's palace for Middle Eastern food and entertainment. The owners are fastidious about their food, presentation & entertainment. One experiences that old fashioned ME courtesy. High recommended. Find out their entertainment program before you go. The belly dancers are great. Sushi Bar 50m from The Waldorf
The Sushi Bar is convenient to The Waldorf, but a little disappointing. Use it if you must. There's little wrong with the food. It's made by the Chinese restaurant owners'family. Hygene is good, but they lack the PR skills to run a really good restaurant. Such a pity, they have the product. Budget on about ZAR 80 per person for take aways & R 120 for a sit down dinner.
